School Centenary - 2005

The Open Days on September 9th and 10th were a resounding success with hundreds of former students visiting the school. The Centenary Revue performed by students has been widely acclaimed.

CENTENARY BOOK – ‘Weston Public School 1905 – 2005  A History’

The book consists of 112 pages of historical fact derived from official documents in the NSW Archives, Parents’ and Citizens’ Association and Mothers’ Club records, newspaper articles and the memories of hundreds of former students and staff. It is an entertaining read with tales from the early days when the Weston Progress Association reported that a school was urgently needed as the children in the town were ’running wild’. Chronicled highlights include  the school’s progress through the war years and the depression up to the technology explosion of today. It contains an abundance of class photos with the earliest dating back to 1912. There are also photos of all the 2005 classes.

 The cost of the book, including GST, is $20 with all proceeds going to the school.

PAVERS

The Paver project has now closed. The donated pavers have all been laid in a specially designed area of the playground. Visitors to view the pavers are always welcome.

PHOTOGRAPHS

The old photograph project continues. The photos we have may be viewed on the school's computer network at any time. We welcome copies of old photographs. These can be scanned while you wait and returned immediately.

TIME CAPSULE

A Time Capsule has been put down, to be opened in 2050.

We are always thrilled to receive information from anyone who has been associated with the school, as a student, a teacher, a parent or a volunteer. We want your memories. Photo Records

We have a number of old photos that have been supplied to us over the years and we have them displayed on the school's Intranet. The response to our appeal for old photos has been magnificent and we seem to be adding photos every week. However our collection is not complete and we are always looking for more old photos (pre 1980). If you have any old school photos of Weston School or of the town and people of Weston please contact us or call in and see what we have. If you can bring photos in we can scan them while you wait.
